If you have a little more time for your journey to Gili Air you can use the cost effective but still enjoyable journey with Perama Tours.
Perama Tours use a traditional Phinisi boat and adds a little more of an Indonesian feel to your journey. The boat has a large sun deck and a bar so you can just sit back and enjoy your journey taking in the sights as you travel. If you are lucky you will be joined by a pod of dolphins as you cross between the Islands.
The boat leaves Padang Bai at around 13:00 arriving in Gili Air around 18:30, it then continues on to Sengigi, Lombok arriving at approx 20:00.
Tickets costs approximately 240,000IDR and can be bought at most of the small travel offices you see around Bali. If you are in Kuta go to the Island Promotions office (next door to Fat Yogis Restaurant) in Poppies I or contact them direct by email.
